Temporary Mural and Safety and Security objects Installation

The mural consists of symbols and signs that relate to safety, warning, and the almost absurd measures deployed for safekeeping in South Africa. I followed a timeline of memories and experiences while recognising the effect of living in a violent society. The mural patterns were spray painted over several weeks with handmade stencils. The patterns mimic Shwe Shwe, a traditional South African fabric with colonial roots, now used commercially in everything from clothing to accessories. The clay objects are small sculptures based on patterns in the mural.
